New Daddy

[In the pool today]
Dean: Mommy, jump off Daddy’s shoulders again!
Mommy: I think we are done, I don’t want to hurt him.
Dean: Yeah! Cause then he would die and we wouldn’t have him anymore.
Mommy: Yeah. That would suck.
Dean: Yeah. And then we would have to get a new daddy.

It’s Your Job

Dean asked me to help him find a LEGO spaceship this morning that he couldn’t find after looking for 15 minutes. How long did it take me? About 30 seconds…

Dean: Oh thank you for finding my spaceship Mommy!
Mommy: Sometimes it just takes a mommy doesn’t it?
Dean: Yeah. But it’s your job.
Mommy: [incredulously speechless]

Dean: Why not?

Mommy: Because you are getting to be so big!

Dean: It’s special?

Mommy: [Starting to get really choked up] Yup. Every moment we get to spend together is special.

Dean: [Ponders for a bit] Coconuts are special too!
